- Increase the skills and capacity of young indigenous students in the region
- Exposed these students to range of quality of vocations available through the cotton industry including business administration, research and farm management
- Promote the benefits of using a school-based traineeship programme to the broader cotton industry
Students are required to undertake 800 hrs of work over the 2 years and this could be 1 day a week or in blocks over the school holidays.
The trainees are working with staff from CSIRO, CRDC, NSW DPI and the Cotton CRC and are based at the Australian Cotton Research Institute and CRDC. The project is undertaken in conjunction with CRDC, Namoi Catchment Authority and the Aboriginal Employment Strategy.
