A new website has been launched to improve the creation and transfer of irrigation knowledge to the cotton and grains industries. The new website has been constructed as part of the Cotton Catchment Communities CRC (Cotton CRC) ‘Cotton and Grains Irrigation Knowledge Management’ project.
The new site contains a wealth of information, including project summaries, on-farm trial updates and easy to use web-based production tools such as the irrigation benchmark calculator, OVERsched which assists with the management of Overhead (Centre Pivot and Lateral Move) Irrigation Systems and WATERpak a comprehensive guide for irrigation management in cotton and grains crops.
David Wigginton, Knowledge Broker with the Cotton CRC and NSW DPI said that effectively communicating with the cotton and grains industries is a primary aim of this project and the new website is integral in achieving this”.
“The website will keep the industry up to date with the latest cotton and grains research, upcoming workshops and events” said Mr Wigginton.
This website is a repository of irrigation information resources and is one of a range of activities undertaken through the 'Cotton and Grains Irrigation Knowledge Management’ project that encourages improved irrigation practices. Other activities include development of innovative irrigation training, improvement of industry extension techniques and support for commercial delivery of irrigation services.
Mr Wigginton said public feedback has been an important part of the redesign process for the new site and will continue to be a focus for future developments.
