This program aims to support the Namoi Cotton industry to build skills, knowledge and capacity through extension, education and training activities to facilitate the sustainable management of the natural resources. The program will support the development of projects to implement Best Management Practice, and will link closely with and support the delivery of other Programs agreed to under the Umbrella Program Agreement between the Cotton Catchment Communities CRC and the Namoi CMA.

The program will provide information to cotton industry stakeholders and the wider community that will improve understanding about the natural resource management legislative framework and how it relates to the cotton industry, as well as extending technical information on best practice natural resource management, and informing the public about the interaction between natural resources and the cotton industry.

Key.outcomes
• Engage cotton growers in the Namoi in natural resource management activities
• Improve the skills, knowledge and resources of cotton growers to increase their capacity to manage their natural resources in a sustainable manner
• Increase adoption of best practice land use and natural resource management that improves catchment health and agricultural sustainability
• Increase community awareness of the environment and ecosystem values and services provided on cotton farms
• Provide extension advice, education and training resources on catchment and environmental issues within the cotton industry and the community
• Improve alignment, linkages and contributions between the cotton industry’s environment targets and BMP guidelines with the Namoi Catchment and Management targets
• Strengthen the partnership and improve communication between the Cotton Industry and the Namoi CMA, including identifying NRM research priorities and funding opportunities.
