The February 2010 Achiever of the Month is Mark Hickman, DEEDI QLD, Professional Development Manager, for developing a strong learning culture within the Australian cotton Industry.
Through Mark’s extension role he has been dedicated and successful in bridging the gap between secondary schools and industry employment.
Mark played a key role in the establishment of the Certified BMP Farm Manager award, which equates to the vocational qualification of Diploma of Agriculture (specialising in Cotton Production). This award encourages industry personnel to gain recognition of existing skills as a formal qualification.
As a consequence of Mark’s continual efforts to collaborate with varying organisations including TOCAL, Australian Agricultural College Corporation and AgriFood Industry Skills Council
he has been successful in implementing many projects and building strong relationships.
Mark continues to work closely with CRDC to explore the capacity and benefit of E Learning pathways to enhance training and skill development within the Australian cotton industry.
